What a fun weekend with the Kiddos! :-) I arrived in Texas at 12:00 on Friday and picked up Trey and Elizabeth at their Texas home about 2:00. We went to the park and played for a few minutes until 2:50, when we went to pick up Shelby from school.
As I was tending to Trey and Baby Bug - as she likes to be called by me - Shelby found Keri, who had driven there as well. As I looked at her, I realized that she hadn't seen me yet and I heard her say to Keri, "But I thought my Utah Dad (a name Keri has the kids call me) was going to pick me up." Just then I snuck in closer and she turned her head and saw me and, with a big smile on her face, hopped down and gave me a big hug.
We went shopping to pick up some groceries and then back to the hotel to go swimming for a couple hours. We watched a little of the movie "Cars" while I made some sandwiches, and then we went to bed.
On Saturday, we got up and went to Celebration park (the big park) and played baseball and frisbee for about an hour and then played on the playground for another hour. By this time the kids were hungry so we went back to the hotel for lunch and quiet time. We watched Tarzan. After the movie we went swimming again. Trey and Shelby both "practiced" for a little while without their floaties and did pretty good.
After swimming, we came back to the hotel room, had dinner, and played UNO - a game that all 3 kids love to play! Then it was off to bed.
On Sunday, We woke up and went to Church at 9. Trey had the scripture and prayer in Primary so it was fun to see him do that. We had lunch at the hotel after church at noon, followed by Cars2 for quiet time. After quiet time, the kids wanted to go back to Celebration Park to play football, baseball, and Frisbee. We spent a couple hours at the park, where Shelby dazzled everyone with her great Baseball skills. And Baby Bug was so very eager to chase down all the balls. The wind blew everyday pretty hard and it was fun to watch as the kids would throw their frisbees and then spend the next couple minutes frantically running all over the park after them! I chuckle just thinking about it! :-)
After the park, we went back to the hotel to go swimming where Shelby and Trey again asked to practice with out their floaties. Trey swam all the way around the pool with out his floaties! We went back to the hotel and had dinner and played UNO again. Then it was time for bed.
On Monday, I got Shelby ready for School and had her there at 7:50. Baby Bug, Trey and I went back to the Hotel, ate breakfast, and I packed while they watched Bambi. We went to have lunch with Shelby at 10:45 at her school. It was such a fun experience! Shelby was so excited to see me and her teacher also introduced herself to me and told me that she "had heard so many wonderful things about me" from Shelby. :-)
When it was time to leave the school, Trey, Baby Bug and I went to have our own little picnic at the "fish" park. We then played a little bit and talked about the trip to Utah they have in a month. Many times Baby Bug would say, "I want to go with you to Utah now" which made me feel good. We also talked a little about going to Disneyland and Trey said he wanted to go on the Peter Pan ride first "to see if it is still a little scary for me." Baby Bug was excited to go on the Ariel ride.
After the park, I took them to the Dick's Sporting Goods in Allen so they could see the store that I worked in and so I could teach them a little about sports. Then we went over to Cabella's to check out the big fish tank and see all the fish.
That took us to 2:30 and time to go pick up Shelby from School. This time she saw me immediately, ran and gave her teacher a "high five" indicating that she had found her family, and with a smile on her face ran over to me and requested to be picked up. :-)
From here, we went back over to the "fish" park and played until it was time for me to go at 4:00. Shelby was particularly sad when it was time for me to leave. She also expressed that she wanted to come to Utah with me right then and was very clingy and sad. I told her that I would go home and get her room all ready for her and that I could show her what it looked like everytime we webchatted. It was a tearfull goodbye, but made easier knowing that I get to see them in a month.
I should also remember to include that Baby Bug said her favorite colors are purple and pink - which surprised me since everytime I ask or asked Shelby and Trey that same question, they respond with, "All of them."
