Saturday, June 20
Because Shelby and Lizi's flight was delayed, we actually didn't have anytime together on Saturday. The American Airlines flight was scheduled to land in St George at 11:15pm but didn't actually land until 4:00am Sunday. Judi and I met the girls and we drove home and went right to bed.
Sunday, June 21
I love being able to go to church with my kids just because I'm so proud of them and it is so important to me to have the people I see every week know about such an important part of my life that they don'y normally get to see. We woke up and got to church about 8:50am. It was a farewell for a young woman who was leaving for her mission. Lizi went to her class (Jenna Mangleson showed her where it was) Judi went to her class, and Shelby and I went to Sunday School. Lizi said that her teacher was awesome - the best teacher she has had. When I got to our Sunday School class, I saw that it was one of my least favorite teachers but she actually did a pretty good job today. When we got home from church, Shelby, Judi, and I ate lunch and went outside while Lizi took a shower and a nap. We came in and talked in the living room for a while and then Judi showed Lizi her Disneyland Minecraft and other new features since Shelby had last played. Shelby then took a nap and I turned on the US Open while Judi played on the Switch and I ended up taking a nap too. Judi then went outside for a bit and I woke up and watched the ending of the US Open. Lizi woke up and went outside with Judi after letting Shelby know that I was going to start getting dinner ready. I made Chicken Rice Casserole and everyone liked it pretty well. We ate at the table and Lizi printed out the designs for our Disney shirts while Shelby cut them out. We then all went outside and Judi showed everyone how the dogs can jump over obstacles and I threw the "disk" to Nana. Shelby even threw it to her too and Nana caught it! The cats also all came to the back yard. We came in and watched some youtube videos about Sea World and some of the older videos that I posted too. Trey called and we all chatted with him for about 50 minutes which was awesome! It was so fun to have everyone here for the chat with him. When it was time for him to go, Shelby showed me pictures from her recent New York Trip and we watched a few more Youtube videos and went to bed.
Monday, June 22
Lizi woke up first about 10:00am and started working on cutting out the names and years for our Disney shirts. She then took them outside and started the process of putting the characters on the shirts and bleaching around them to make them show up on the shirts. Just as she was finishing, Judi woke up and the three of us ate breakfast. After breakfast, Lizi went back into her room and took a nap. Shelby then woke up and Trey called and talked with us for a while until Liz came and took me to Costco so I could get muffins and chicken skewers. We also stopped by Walmart to get bread, donuts, and fruit for the trip. I got a Pizza on the way home and we ate dinner. Everyone packed their stuff and I went to play pickleball in our league. When I got home, the kids were just finishing packing and Judi put on Youtube videos while I precooked meals for our trip. We then got some ice cream and watched Tarzan before going to bed.
Tuesday, June 23
I woke up around 8:00am and pre-cooked our last meal for the trip and started packing things up and loading the car. The goal was to leave between noon and 1:00pm and the kids slept until around 11:00 or so. Once they were up, Shelby finished packing the car and around 12:45 or so we got on our way. We listened to some Disney tunes on the way down. We stopped for gas at our usual Pilot store in Barstow and ended up at the Kings Inn in San Diego around 6:30. We got unpacked and had some dinner. We then planned our next day at Sea World and went to bed.
Wednesday, June 24
Sea World 10:00am-9:00pm
We woke up and arrived at Sea World around 9:30. The first thing the kids wanted to do was Manta so they all got in line and I got to a spot where I could take their picture. Shelby and Lizi then went over to Emperor and Electric Eel first before the lines got too long and Judi and I did the Wild Artic exhibit and the Shark Encounter while we waited for them. We also all went to the Sea Lion and Otter and the Shamu Shows. We missed the Dolphin show and the Pirates show wasn't going on Wednesdays for some reason. We actually did both the day time and night time shows for Sea Lion and Otter and the Shamu Show. The shows definitely weren't as good as they used to be. Shelby, Lizi, and I went on Atlantis while Judi watched our bags. We also all did Wild Artic roller coaster. We ate lunch at the Ship Wreck Reef Cafe and there was a really cool drone show at night too. All in all, it was fun to go there again with the kids. We got back to our room and had some chicken and cup of noodles and went to bed.
Thursday, June 25
San Diego Safari Park 8:00am-4:00pm
We got a little bit of a late start and got to the Safari Park around 8:15. But it wasn't crowded so it didn't matter too much. We walked around and looked at the exhibits on the way to the tram which takes you on a safari to see a bunch of different animals. I think the safari is the highlight of the park. We saw lots of cool animals like giraffes, rhinos, elephants, zebra, cheetahs, Cape Buffalo, Lions, Tigers, monkeys, birds, and a platypus. Shelby about got attacked by a big mouthed crane type bird when she got a little close for a picture. We headed out around 3:00 or so after going on the tram one last time. We then stopped by the El Toro Memorial Cemetery to see Grandma Judi and Great Grandpa and Grandma Rowlands which was on the way from San Diego to Disneyland. I love taking the kids there because I know how much my mom and grandparents would have loved (and did love) them and I want the kids to know who they were. From there, it was just a 45 minute drive to the Del Sol hotel that we like to stay at. We got room 221 and unloaded our stuff. We then headed to Splittsville to eat and Downtown Disney to trade pins. Once we got back to the hotel, the girls wanted to go swimming in the hotel pool so they swam for about 30 minutes before it closed. We then came in and went to bed.
Friday, June 26
Disneyland 8:00-Midnight
We woke up early to get to Disneyland at 7:30. When I got to security though, I was turned away because I had a framed picture of Trey and they didn't allow glass frames. So I turned around and hurried back to the room and took the picture out of the frame and came back. Once in, we waited for Disneyland to officially open (the rope drop) and headed to Indiana Jones first. After Indy we did Rise of the Resistance and then went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean (a new pirate flag was added behind a small waterfall and a new pirate animatronic was added on top of the treasure room scene). We then met up with Eric, Jack, and Olivia and went on Pirates again. We then went to Haunted Manion and Eric wanted to try to use his old retired paper fast pass to see if they would let us skip the line. When he handed it to a younger female cast member, at first she didn't want to take it because it seemed like she realized what it was and that it was a collectible. But Eric insisted and she went and spoke with a supervisor and then to the cast member letting people into the foyer and elevator. Soon after, our group of 7 people was led into the foyer by ourselves and then into the elevator. It was such a cool experience to have it so empty! But the coolest part was that after we exited the elevator, we had the whole hallway to our selves and I was able to get some really cool pictures! After Mansion, we took our family picture (with the picture of Trey in hand) in front of the exit of the Tiki Room. We then went into the Tiki Room and on Story Book Land Canal Boats followed by Small World, Alice in Wonderland, and Smugglers Run. We then did Thunder Mountain before heading back to our hotel room for Spanish Rice for lunch and naps. We took about 2 hour naps and then got back and saw Great Moments with Mr Lincoln and Jungle Cruise. We then did Star Tours and Buzz Light Year Astro Blasters which Shelby scored like 4 times more than anyone else. We then went further into Tomorrowland and did Autopia, the Subs, and then Matterhorn. I then went to save seats for the Paint the Night Parade while the kids did Matterhorn again and again. After the parade, we did Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. We then headed to Fantasyland where the kids wanted to do Tea Cups so I took pictures. We then did Snow White and Mr Toad before getting in line for Peter Pan at 11:58pm. We got back to the hotel around 12:40 and had some chicken and cup o noodles for dinner and headed to bed.
Saturday, June 27
California Adventure 8:00am-10:00pm
We arrived at DCA around 7:45 and Shelby and Lizi went to Guardians of the Galaxy and Incredicoaster first so Judi and I went to Toy Story Midway Mania and walked on it 3 times in a row. We then did Mickey's fun wheel and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind as we worked our way around the back of the pier. We then did Ariel's Undersea Adventure, Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree before meeting up with everyone and doing Radiator Springs Racers - actually Judi traded pins while Shelby, Lizi, and I went on Racers. The girls all went on Luigi while I got pictures of them. We then went on Grizzly River run before heading back to the hotel for Spaghetti and Naps. Ww got up after a couple of hours and headed back. We first went to Animation Academy where we drew Winnie the Pooh and then did Turtle Talk with Crush twice. We headed to Soarin' and then Judi and I saved seats for World of Color while Shelby and Lizi checked on Goofy's Sky School but it was too long so Shelby helped me save seats while Lizi and Judi went pin trading. After World of Color, Judi and I went on Monsters Inc and Shelby and Lizi did Guardians of the Galaxy again. We then headed back to the hotel for chicken skewers and cup o noodles before heading to bed.
Sunday, June 28
We woke up slightly later than normal because of how tired we were, and ended up getting to Disneyland about 7:45. Lizi dressed up as Rapunzel with a purple dress, painted flowers in her pony tail, and Paschal on her shoulder. We headed toward Matterhorn for our first ride but I needed to use the restroom so I told the kids I'd try to catch up with them. Because there was no line, by the time I got back to them, they were already just about to board so I ran around to the side to get some pictures of them. We then headed over to Rise of the Resistance which was still closed so we went to Haunted Mansion and Pirates and then back to Rise of the Resistance because we saw that it had opened up. We then did Indiana Jones (one of the kids' favorites) and Jungle Cruise (one of my favorites) and then headed over to Thunder Mountain. After Thunder, we did the Canoes and then went to Tom Sawyer Island and did a really fun treasure hunt over there. The hunt involved a booklet that had questions and puzzles that you had to answer and solve before taking the book to a cast member to have it stamped. There were 5 stamps total you had to get to get a final sticker. After Shelby and I completed the scavenger hunt, we went to the Golden Horseshoe to get our normal ice cream sundae. But they changed it - instead of the normal chocolate chip cookies, they had churros. At first I was really disappointed but it actually tasted really good! Shelby and Lizi wanted to get some pictures by Snow White's Grotto before heading back to the hotel so Judi and I did some pin trading and Lizi found Flynn Rider (or he found her) and Shelby got some fun pictures of them talking. Shelby and Lizi also too pictures over by Snow White Grotto. We then met up back to the hotel for naps and chicken alfredo for lunch. When we got back to the park, we took the Disneyland Railroad all the way around the park and then back to the New Orleans Square exit so Lizi could go on Tiana. Shelby, Judi, and I did Pirates again and then the Adventureland Treehouse. We then headed to Mr Toad and afterward met up with Lizi to go to Galaxy's Edge to get some pink milk. It was ok. Judi also wanted to get a pretzel so she and I headed to a pretzel cart in Frontierland and then back to Galaxy's Edge. The kids then wanted to do Indiana Jones again so I waited for them and got some Shrunken Ned cards in the Bazaar. Shelby and I then went to Star Tours and to save seats for Fantasmic! while Lizi and Judi did Matterhorn and some pin trading. After Fantasmic! we headed for the Haunted Mansion because Lizi wanted to do it at night time. After Mansion, we headed over to Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and then to Storybook Land Canal Boats, Snow White, and Peter Pan before calling it a day.
Monday, June 29
I woke up about 7:45 and started packing things up. The girls woke up shortly after and helped as well. We got the car loaded and checked out of our hotel and headed to Downtown Disney to trade pins and buy our year pins. We headed back to our car to head out. On the way, I stopped by Peter the Framer's house to pick up some production drawings he framed for me. We then continued on the 6 hour drive to Rock Creek. I love that drive because it is nostalgic for me because of taking it with my Mom and Grandparents. I also love our new DJ rotation we do on our drive to Rock Creek - We each choose a song one at a time and then Shelby will play it on my phone. It is so fun to hear the different tastes that each of my kids have. We made it to the Rock Creek Lakes Resort Lodge at about 5:10, got our keys, and headed to our cabin. We stayed in cabin 6 this year because cabin 7 was full. As we were just finishing up unloading the car, little balls of soft hail started falling from the sky. Really, they more resembled snow than hail but my car said it was 42 degrees when we pulled in so I didn't think it was cold enough to snow. Lizi and Judi came out and started playing in it and taking pictures of it. We came in and I made chili for dinner. After dinner we continued getting settled in and it started snowing again, this time regular flakes of snow! It was so cool! After playing in it on the porch for a while, we came in and read our books and drew before going to bed.
Tuesday, June 30
Judi and woke up early to go fishing while Lizi and Shelby wanted to sleep in. I originally had planned to wake up at first light (around 5:30) but with it being so cold last night, I figured I'd give the sun a little time to warm everything up. So at 7:30 we headed to the lake. It was a perfect calm morning and Judi ended up catching 7 fish (5 keepers) and I caught 2 (1 keeper). One of Judi's fish slipped out of my hand as I was putting it on the stringer. We fished for about 4 hours and then came back to the cabin. Shelby and Lizi were still sleeping but woke up when we got home. We ate breakfast and then I started scaling and gutting the fish. Shelby decided she wanted to gut one also so she came over and then Lizi did too. I put the fish in the fridge to keep until lunch time and we all went out to explore the area outside our cabin. I came back before the girls to start heating up the fish for lunch. After eating the fish, Judi and I played Play 9 while Shelby read and Lizi journaled. Everyone then played a couple of games of Banana Grams and then Shelby, Judi, and I played Settlers of Catan while Lizi journaled. We then all read, drew, and relaxed for a little bit until it was dinner time. I made spaghetti for dinner and then we all went back to the lake to fish. We didn't catch any fish but had a few bites. After a couple of hours we came back and got cleaned up and went to bed.
Wednesday, July 1st
Everyone decided that they wanted to wake up early to go fishing since the morning time is the best time. We got to the lake and Judi caught the first fish but it was too small to keep. She then caught a keeper. Lizi also caught a nice size rainbow trout and so did Shelby but just after we took the picture of Shelby's fish, it fell off her hook and down into a crevasse in the rock that was too deep to reach into. We fished for about 3 hours and when we got back, Lizi wanted to scale and gut both fish we had so she did it all by herself! I was so proud of her. We put them in the fridge to have for lunch later that day. We than ate a little breakfast and went onto the porch. Lizi and Judi did some drawing which was really cool! We decided that we wanted to go back over to the view point that Shelby found yesterday so I put the fish into the oven (400 degrees for 20 minutes). The girls made fast work of the fish and Shelby, Lizi, and I went exploring to the overlook that Shelby found yesterday. We took some pictures and then Lizi did a drawing of Shelby on a rock which turned out great. Judi stayed back and worked on making custom Lorcana cards which look great! While I was at the overlook, I decided that I would make a quick trip to Mosquito Flats since that's a special spot where Trey likes to hike. When I got there, I felt like I wanted to hike up a little. As I started hiking I realized that I wanted to hike to Long Lake where Trey and I hit snow a couple years ealier. I had to try to hike fast since it was 2 miles away and I didn't want to be gone too long. I ended up leaving at 3:05 and getting back at 4:50 so not too bad. Lizi Journaled and sketched while I was gone and Judi made more Lorcana cards. I stared dinner which was Chicken Alfredo and we ate and then played games. Lizi and Judi played UNO while Shelby beat me in a game of Banana Grams. Then Lizi went to take a shower so Judi, Shelby, and I played Settlers of Catan. After Settlers we decided to head to bed.
Thursday, July 2nd
I woke up around 7:30 and got ready for the day and then started packing things up. I woke the kids up a little after 8:30 and Lizi swept the cabin, Shelby cleaned the kitchen, and Judi swept the porch and took the garbage's out. I went in the lodge to check out and ran into Jim King (the owner) who I remembered seeing when I went to Rock Creek as a kid and we chatted for a while. We got on the road a little after 10:00, stopped in Bishop to get gas and then got on our way. The first part of the drive is on windy roads where the speed limit often only gets to 30 miles per hour. There are also lots of dips which makes the perfect recipe for car sickness for Shelby and Judi, but they both did great. We stopped in Beatty, Nevada at Subway and then I dropped off Judi at her Mom's house on the way home at 6:00. When we got home, we started doing laundry immediately since we were all low on clothes and we also unpacked everything and spent some time with the pets. No one was too hungry so Lizi and I had a can of green beans and then we had ice cream and watched Swiss Family Robinson before going to bed.
Friday, July 3rd
I woke up, finished unpacking from our trip and headed to the store and to pick up Judi while Lizi and Shelby slept. Judi and I played with the dogs for a while and then came in and Judi worked on stuff for her YouTube channel. She is really good at editing videos. Lizi and Shelby woke up and ate some breakfast and then we moved the trampoline to the lawn so the girls could jump on it with water balloons, the hose, and sprinklers on. It was fun to hear the squeals when they jumped and the water balloons went flying. It was also a blast when they would throw them at me on the lawn one at a time and I would try to catch one and throw it back before the next one hit me. They also tried jumping over the hose spray and Lizi did some flips. When they were finished on the tramp they laid out on the grass to try to get a little tan. We then came in and Lizi worked on her soda stand logo and Shelby and I sat with her at the table while Judi played Minecraft. I then got dinner ready and we watched Hercules while we ate. After dinner we took the dogs on a walk to the mail - Lizi and Judi rode their bikes while Shelby and I walked the dogs. When we got back, we stayed outside and played with the pets and talked by the swing set. Judi also trained the dogs a little. We also had some plums which are just about perfect! Liz came to pick up Judi and Shelby and I made pumpkin bread and then Lizi, Shelby, and I had ice cream and pumpkin bread (once it was done) while we watched the 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie. We then went to bed.
Saturday, July 4th
I woke up around 7:45 and got ready to take Shelby to the St George airport. Her flight left at 10:26 and we got there around 9:00am. There was not a single person in the security line so after going to the counter to check in, she pretty much walked right through security to her gate. She flew to Denver and then from Denver to Idaho Falls to see her friends for a few days. It was fun spending time with her. When I got home, Lizi was at the kitchen table eating breakfast. After breakfast, we went out side to see the pets for a little bit. We came in and watched 2 episodes of Alone. We went back outside and got some plums and grapes to eat. We had dinner and watched another episode of Alone and then got ready to go to Tuachan to see Les Miserables. On the way to Tuachan, Trey called and we got to talk to him for a little while. I was sad we didn't have more time to chat with him, but I'll take any time I can get! Once at Tuachan, the play was meh but it was fun going with Lizi because of her excitement of theater. There was a really cool fireworks show afterwards that ended up catching a couple of bushes behind the theater on fire and then something in the theater its self actually caught on fire too! They stopped the fireworks and then turned off the music and people quickly exited the area. It was probably the best fireworks show I've ever seen just because of how close the fireworks were to us in combination with the patriotic music they played. When we got home, it was a little past midnight so we went to bed.
Sunday, July 5th
Lizi and I woke up and went to church at 9:00. Lizi was excited that Paylynn Curtis talked to her today at church which meant a lot to me. After church we went to pick up Judi and came home and went outside to play with the dogs for a little bit. Lizi then had a nap and Judi helped me edit a Youtube video and then played a little bit of Age of Empires. We then had a little lunch and Lizi and Judi played on the trampoline. When we came in, Judi painted and Lizi worked on her parking space for school. We then went to the Tapp's home for dinner with Mark and Jan and their daughters Tay and Shay. It was a lot of fun to get to know them and they were all really easy to talk to. Lizi and Judi both did a great job having conversations with them. When we got home, we went back out side to hang out for a while and then came in and watched Frozen 2 and got ready for bed.
Monday, July 6th
Judi woke up early so she could get in all the time with Lizi she could before she goes on her staycation so she was up around 8:30. I ran to the store to grab some water balloons among other things. When I got home, Judi was playing Minecraft after feeding the dogs and cats. Lizi woke up just after 10:00 and we ate breakfast and then the girls got changed and started filling up water balloons for the trampoline. We moved the trampoline to the grass and put all the balloons on the tramp and then they started bombarding me with water balloons! It was so much fun! They then tried jumping over the hose and just having fun in general on the tramp. After they got dried off, they came in and made snow cones and then played charades and then had lunch while drawing random animals. We then organized and traded pins on our pin boards until it was time for Judi to leave. After Judi left, Lizi and I cleaned up our pins and then just bummed around the house until dinner time. Lizi helped me make mashed potatoes and I made some beef stew to go with it. We watched an episode of Alone while we ate and then I went to my pickleball league and Lizi watched Spiderman while I was gone. When I got home, Lizi was ready to catch up on her sleep so we went to bed.
Tuesday, July 7th
When Lizi woke up around 2:15pm I found out that she had been talking to her friend Baily all night so she stayed up pretty late. When she got up we ate some breakfast and then went outside for a little bit. We then came in and Lizi started a painting of a pirate ship. She did the background today. I sat at the kitchen table with her and went through my mail while she painted. We then went back outside and pulled weeds in the front yard around the asparagus. It was so nice having some help with that and Lizi is a really good worker. We came in and got cleaned up and I got us some tacos from Del Taco. It was the first time either one of us had eaten there and they were decent. We watched Pirates of the Caribbean 3 while we ate. After dinner, we went outside and threw the football around for a while. Lizi threw some really good spirals! She also caught some really good ones when she ran some routes to catch the ball. After football, we sat on the chairs outside and just talked for about an hour until it got dark. We came in and Lizi showed me pictures on her phone of her plays which was really fun to see. We then both played the ukulele for a little bit and went to bed.
Wednesday, July 8
Judi got done with the staycation around 11:00 and wanted to come over. Lizi was still asleep So Judi and I went outside for a little bit. Lizi got up and we had breakfast and then the girls decided that they wanted to set up the tarp as a slip and slide down into the pit like we did when they were younger. It was quite the process because the tarp is heavy to begin with. But also it hadn't been touched for like 4 years so there were tons of bugs and spiders under it and in the folds which made it even more fun to set up. But we did it and got it all unfolded and swept off. They had so much fun soaping up the bottoms of the sleds and then riding down the tarp into the pit. They even got the dogs involved - well, at first the dogs would run after them when they heard the girls screaming to make sure they were alright. And then Judi decided to try to put them in the sled and get them to go down the slide which they did. We came in and had some lunch and Lizi played the Ukulele while Judi played the piano trying to create AI songs for her YouTube channel. We had cheesy noodles for dinner and we watched Brave while we ate. We then went to check the mail - Lizi and Judi rode their bikes and I walked the dogs. When we got back, Judi and Lizi played the random animal drawing game again. We then got ready for bed.
Thursday, July 9
I woke up early to mow the grass and do a little yard work before the kids got up. Judi woke up around 10:30 and watched me play Minecraft for a little bit. Lizi then woke up and we all ate breakfast together. Lizi and Judi immediately then got changed into their swim suits and went outside to slide down the waterslide into the pit. While they did that, I did a little more work around the back yard. We had decided to see the 2:10 showing of Toy Story 5 so after about an hour or so of playing with the water slide, they came in and got ready to go to the movie. We all really liked it. I laughed most of the way through the movie. When we got home, Lizi got her Ukulele out and played while Judi made some AI songs for her upcoming YouTube channel. I then got dinner ready and we ate while we watched Encanto which was Lizi's choice (the one she wanted to watch the most of the movies she picked before Judi and I eliminated all the rest). After the movie, Lizi and Judi went outside and just enjoyed the evening on the trampoline. I then took Judi to her mom's house at 8:00 and Lizi and I watched Alone before going to bed.
Friday, July 10
I got a text from Judi's mom at 10:00 saying that Judi was ready for me to pick her up so I ran to grab her and we went to Walmart to pick up some more water balloons and stuff for Wok Chicken. When we got home, Lizi was still asleep (she talks to her friend Bailey late at night). When Lizi woke up, she made herself some pancakes and she and I then sat down with Judi who had been watching Onward while we ate. After the show ended, I helped the girls fill up the water balloons for the trampoline outside. We also had to move the trampoline to the grass which is quite a process with only the 3 of us. We all had so much fun with the water balloons - I think Judi especially enjoyed soaking me! After water balloons, we had some otter pops and Judi picked some beets from the garden that I started to make. After eating the beets, I got dinner ready and we watched Tarzan 2 while we ate. After the movie, we went outside and rode bikes for a while - in the pit and to check the mail. Lizi then touched up Smokey and Daisy's tomb stones while Judi colored in her random animal drawings. We then all played Mario Kart on the Switch which was a lot of fun. Judi then wanted to watch a movie but I could tell that Lizi was wanting to get ready for bed. Lizi decided to play the Ukulele out with us and we turned the volume down on the movie and put the captions on. Judi chose to watch Rapunzel and a short way into it, Lizi decided to watch it too. After the movie we got ready for bed.
Saturday, July 11
Lizi's flight left at 11:11am from St George so we planned on leaving the house at 9:20. We ended up getting on the road just after 9:30 but we still had plenty of time. It is always hard to say goodbye to the kids and saying bye to Lizi was no exception. She headed through security and went to her gate. The strange thing to us was that on her boarding pass, no seat assignment was given and when she got to the gate, the agent told her it would be updated on the app. Judi and I got back to the house but nothing had been resolved with Lizi's seat and people were starting to board the plane so I headed back to the airport to try to talk to someone or (worst case) pick Lizi back up and try another flight. Fortunately, 2 people voluntarily gave up their seats (American had overbooked their flight) so Lizi and this other lady could get on so I turned around and went back home. Besides the American Airlines drama, the visit was awesome and I can't wait to see her again!
