Tuesday, 16th
I picked the kids up from the airport at 4:05 pm Vegas time. It was so good to see them! Trey and Shelby were repeating "dad jokes" on the way home while Lizi was trying to make them stop. It was so funny! When we got home, we ate Wendy's and then Liz brought Judi over. Lizi and Judi went into Lizi's new room and she and Judi chatted on the bed. They then played with plastic animals. Trey found his laptop and I watched as he opened it. We then went into the Disney room and he taught me how to play Dr Facilier on Villainous. Shelby and Liz talked for a while. Lizi and Shelby then hopped into bed - all the kids were really tired - and we all went to bed.
Wednesday, 17th
As I was getting ready for the day, I heard someone outside. When I went to see who it was, I noticed that it was Lizi. She was outside with the pets. We went outside and tried a few grapes from the grape vine that were still on. We came back in and Trey had just woken up. We then went in to wake Shelby up and we all ate breakfast. After breakfast, we started moving everyone's things around to their new rooms. After a little while, we took a break. Trey got out his new laptop and started setting it up, Lizi worked on a math test, and Shelby read a book. After each having a pomegranate from our garden, Shelby and Lizi started working on their room again, getting it really close to being finished. Trey and I went to Walmart to get a laundry basket for the girls and to get a picture for the Disney Room. When we got home it was almost time to pick up Judi from school so Shelby and I went to pick her up. I could tell that Judi was really excited to come see the kids because she ran to the car when this year, she normally walks. When we got home, we walked the dogs to the mail box and then played Magic Kingdom board game in the Disney Room. I then cooked some spaghetti for dinner. After dinner, Lizi and Judi played with plastic animals and wild animals while Shelby, Trey, and I played Villainous. We then watchd 3 episodes of Lego Masters and went to bed.
Thursday, 18th
We got up, had breakfast, and then went to give Liz and Jenna birthday cards, drop a package off at the post office, and play pickleball. Lizi and I played against Shelby and Trey. We then came home and Lizi worked on her school while Shelby, Trey, and I played Villainous. After Villainous, we ate lunch and the kids went to see Judi's play at school. When they got home, Lizi and Judi played outside for a while Shelby, Trey, and I played clue. Then we had dinner and I went to choir practice. While I was gone, Shelby baked pumpkin bread, Lizi stayed in the kichen with her and Trey was on his laptop. When I got home, We watched Spiderman: Far from Home, and then went to bed.
Friday, 19th
Our day started off early with a knock at the door. Afterward, I talked with Lizi and Shelby for a couple of hours and then they decided to go back to bed. Trey woke up and we ate breakfast and played "Play 9" in the Disney Room. We then went out to shoot some hoops. We came in and woke up the girls, and Trey and I went to pick up Judi from school. When we got home, Shelby, Trey, and I set up the Christmas lights while Lizi and Judi played with Lego inside. We took a break for lunch and then after lunch Trey and I kept setting up the lights while Shelby looked up and drew greek names and Lizi and Judi kept playing Lego. When we got done with the lights, Trey and I went to the back yard to throw the football around. Lizi and Judi were playing stranded family in the backyard when we got out there but Lizi wanted to go inside when we got outside because I think she's just getting old enough to be a little embarrassed to be playing Stranded Family infront of other people. But I think it's cute! After a little while, Trey and I rode our bikes to the mail and then we came in and Shelby, Trey, Judi, and I played Villainous while Lizi did some school work. After Villainous, I made some dinner and we watched 3 episodes of Lego Masters. I then did the South American Countries with Judi and then got her to bed. Shelby, Trey, Lizi, and I then watched Harry Potter and went to bed.
Saturday, 20th
Judi woke up first and we watched the Dug Show. Trey woke up and joined us. We then ate breakfast and played Play 9. There was an auction today so Shelby came in the Disney Room with me and worked on her school while Trey played on his computer in our room. Lizi and Judi played with the RC Racer. Then Lizi, Judi, and I shot some baskets outside and one of the neighbor kids stopped by and shot a few shots as well. Trey then came out and shot a few shots as well. We then came in to have lunch and then after Shelby was done with her Essay for her college course, Trey, Shelby, and I played Villainous. A funny note about Villainous - whenever someone "fates" Trey (which is an action designed to slow his progress) he plays a song from Mr Magoo on his phone about a poor lonely person. It is so funny! Even Judi started singing it out in the living room for a while while we were playing. Lizi worked on her school and Judi played with the RC Racer. After Villainous, Shelby, Trey and I played knockout and then Shelby, Trey, and I threw the football around while Lizi and Judi played in the clubhouse speaking loudly in many "different languages." After football, I worked on the Christmas lights while the kids relaxed on the couches. Trey and Shelby then cooked some dinner - Shelby made eggs and bacon while Trey made pancakes. We ate and then watched Harry Potter 2 and went to bed.
Sunday, 21st
We woke up, ate breakfast and walked to church. I had choir practice at 10:00 so we all got there early. After church, we came home and ate lunch. Trey and I then watched the Vikings game while Shelby read her book on the couch with us. Lizi and Judi played stranded family outside. The kids also had a webchat during the game. Lizi and Judi came in and started doing crafts on the kitchen table so I went over and drew with them while Trey watched the next football game. Trey, Shelby, and I then played 2 games of Villainous while Lizi played with the RC Racer cars. After Villainous we ate dinner and watched Harry Potter 3 and 4. The commercials were funny and we had a fun time laughing at the "Chucky" commercial and the wrestling commercial where the westlers are using chairs to beat eachother up. We then went to bed.
Monday, 22nd
The kids slept in pretty late today because of our late night last night. We woke up and had a late breakfast. I finished wrapping the kids Christmas presents in the morning while the kids were sleeping and I had them laid out on the kitchen table for them to see when they came out of their rooms. They are going to take them back to Texas in their suitcase. Lizi and I then went outside and shot some baskets. I had such a good time talking with her about school and her friends! I was so excited that she asked me if I wanted to play basketball with her! We then went out to the back yard with Trey and we raked up some leaves that have fallen off the trees. The leaves on the trees in the back yard are so pretty this time of year - red, green, and yellow all right next to eachother! Trey and I then went out front and played a game of basketball. Shelby was inside reading her book. Lizi then played with the RC Racer while Shelby, Trey, and I played a game of Villainous. After our game, I made some lunch and then had to go pick up my car from the mechanic. Trey went with me and we stopped by Walmart on the way home to look for a laptop case for his new laptop. When we got home, Shelby, Lizi, and Judi painted while Trey and I rode our bikes to the mail and then went to the back yard and threw the football around. I love running routes with Trey and trying to throw the perfect pass for him to catch. We came in and Shelby was reading again (she finished her first book and had started on another) and Lizi was solving the Christmas Rubix Cube. I started cooking some dinner - Salmon and Mac & Cheese and we watched Lion King 1 1/2 while we ate. After the movie, Judi asked to play Villainous so Shelby, Trey, Judi and I played Villainous while Lizi played the Ukulele. Judi and Lizi then played with the RC Racer for a little while while Trey and I watched a little of the Monday Night Football game and Shelby read on the couch with us. I then tucked Judi into bed and Shelby, Trey, Lizi and I watched Harry Potter 5 and then went to bed ourselves.
Tuesday, 23rd
Trey woke up first and he and I went to play pickleball. I love playing pickleball with him! When we got home, Lizi was eating breakfast and Shelby was just waking up. We then all went and did our hike to the river. Trey skipped a rock back and forth across the river 4 times! Each time he had to cross the river to retrieve it. Before we left, Shelby and Lizi found branches and made "wands" out of them and pretended to cast spells from Harry Potter at eachother. Trey and I joined in too, of course. It was fun to go back to where we have had so much fun over the years. When we got home, we had lunch - the kids have loved eating hot dogs for lunch this trip - and then we played Villainous. Even Lizi played with us and she won as the Queen of Hearts! Lizi also solved the Christmas Rubix Cube which is much harder that a regular cube. Judi and Lizi then went outside and played Stranded Family. When I went out to look for them, I noticed that they had used containers that had a rotisserie chicken in them, the bones of which I fed the dogs, to fill with grapes and, apparently then would eat the grapes! Yuck! Shelby, Trey, and I played knock out and Trey won the most games! After knock out, Trey recorded Episode 5 of Collecting Disney, Shelby read her book, and Lizi and Judi played lego. I then made dinner and we watched Soul. I made popcorn in the new popcorn popper that we got but I put too much butter on it. After that movie, Shelby, Trey, Lizi and I watched Harry Potter 6 and then went to bed.
Wednesday, 24th
Trey woke up and we ate breakfast. Then he decided he wanted to wake up the girls. Trey, Lizi, and I worked on recording a Collecting Disney episode. Lizi helped explain how to tell if a pin is fake. It was so fun doing that with her! Shelby read and Judi played with lego while we filmed. When we were done, Lizi and Judi went outside to play Stranded Family. It was so windy and cold today that I made them bundle up pretty good. Shelby, Trey, and I played two games of Villainous. When Judi and Lizi came inside, Judi, Shelby, Trey, and I played a game called Golf Mania, which we played in the High Sierras a couple of years ago. Lizi worked on her diamond painting and she finished it! I then started some dinner for the kids and we watched Ratatouille while we ate. I then went in to tuck Judi into bed and then Shelby, Trey, Lizi, and I watched the last 2 Harry Potters. It was a lot of fun to watch them with Shelby and be able to have all my questions asked and have her and Trey tell me when the scary parts were (I don't like scary parts in movies). Smokey and Figaro were cuddled up on their laps as well and for a while, Smokey even started cleaning Figaro. It was really cute! After the movies, we went to bed.
Thursday, 25th
Lizi, Trey, and Judi all woke up pretty early and Lizi got her things packed and then she and Judi played stranded family and Trey and I watched the first half of the Lions/Bears football game. At halftime, we went to play pickleball. Trey beat me 11-8. It was fun to see how happy he was about it, although I will say that he was very careful of my feelings, not to get too outwardly excited. But still, I could tell he was excited. When we got home, Shelby was up and reading her book. Shelby, Trey, and I played Villainous while Lizi and Judi played with the RC Racer. After Villainous, Shelby read her book, Lizi and Judi played with Lego, and Trey and I went outside to shoot some hoops. We then came in and had our Thanksgiving dinner which was really good. After dinner, we went outside and took a family picture and then came in and played the Magic Kingdom Game. It is so fun to play games with everyone and Magic Kingdom is one that Lizi will play with us. It was also fun to have the football game in the background and watch as Trey would go see what caused the fans in the stadium to cheer. After Magic Kingdom, Trey wanted to play Golf Mania! so he, Shelby, and I played Golf Mania while Lizi and Judi played Lego. We then watched Zootopia while we ate pumpkin pie and ice cream and then went to bed.
Friday, 26th
We woke up at 2:15am and got on the road a few minutes before 3:00am. On the way to the airport, Trey sat in the front seat and slept for an hour or so. Judi slept the whole way and Shelby and Lizi stayed awake. When we got to the airport, we got to the gate with little problem and then got breakfast sandwiches to eat before the kids boarded the plane and took off at 6:05am. I already miss them so much! It is so hard to come back to the house for the first time after dropping them off. They did such a good job of making their beds and cleaning their rooms. What great kids!
