Saturday, 23rd
What a fun day today! After getting home at 3:15 in the morning, Trey was up around 7:30. First he went into the Disney Room and then outside. Shelby and Lizi both got up not too long after I came out to see Trey and Judi. We ate breakfast, and then got the Lego table set up in the living room and moved the legos out to it. Trey, Shelby, and I then went to play pickleball while Judi and Lizi played legos. When we got home, Shelby went to the back yard to pet Figaro and the rest of the pets came over to her. Trey watched Lizi and Judi playing legos for a little bit. I then made some macaroni and cheese for lunch and then we put up the Christmas Lights. Shelby and Lizi did the pond lights, Trey did the swirly pine trees, and Jenna did the other bushes and trees. Shelby also did the Bird of Paradise Tree and the smaller plants by it. Lizi and Judi rode bikes and then Trey joined them. Lizi and Judi also made their "track" with chalk in the driveway. Trey got the basketball and shot some baskets while I cleaned out the rain gutters. I then shot some baskets with him and then Lizi came and joined us too. Lizi then asked if we could throw the football around and we were joined by Trey and Judi. We then got ready to go see Frozen II which was pretty good. The kids had seen it the day before with their mom. After the movie we came home and Shelby, Trey, Judi, and I played foosball. Trey beat me for the first time 10-9. Lizi played legos. We then had diner and Trey decided that he wanted to go to bed early. Shelby and I played the Ukulele in the Disney room and Lizi and Judi played legos and drew pictures. We then all went to bed.
Sunday, 24th
We woke up and got ready for church. Before leaving, we had a little time for foosball. First, Trey and Shelby played and then I gave Trey a rematch for beating me last night. It's fun to be able to have the kids with me at church. Shelby was able to go to her class with Jenna which I think makes it easier for her. After church we came home and we started reorganizing our new pin boards which Liz had sewn. While doing our pins, we watched the Seahawks/Eagles game. We then started watching the Cowboys/Patriots for a little while. Then Shelby, Trey, and I went outside and played basketball. Liz joined us and we played some games of speed. I was so impressed with how much better both Trey and Shelby had gotten - especially Shelby! She really surprised me! Lizi and Judi went out to play in the sand box and made a really cool new hotel structure. Shelby and I then drove out to the golf course to clean and gas up the carts and lock the gate. We also walked through the big new house out there which was fun to see. When we got home, we all ate dinner and watched Mary Poppins. After Mary Poppins, Lizi and Judi played more legos and Shelby, Trey, and I watched the 49ers/Packers game. After the game, we got ready for bed.
Monday, 25th
I had to go to work this morning but Trey woke up when I went into his room to check on him in the morning. Judi had to go to school also. While I was at work, Lizi played legos, and Shelby and Trey played with the marble tower, watched Pirates of the Caribbean 2, and then played foosball. Lizi and Judi also made some crafts with beads and Shelby and Trey had some fierce games of foosball. I came home for lunch and played foosball with Trey. I went back to work and then when I came back home, we watched Saving Mr Banks and then Trey and I talked in the Disney Room for a while. Then we got ready for bed.
Tuesday, 26th
I went to work again this morning and Trey woke up again in the morning when I was going in to check on him. While I was at work, The kids watched the Disney Channel, then Shelby went outside to pet the cats, Trey built marble towers, and Lizi and Judi were doing crafts at the table, making cat toys. Then everyone joined Trey in building marble towers. When I came home from work, everyone was playing the marble game. We had lunch/dinner and then Lizi and I went outside to throw the football. Lizi and Judi then built the hotel in the sand box. Trey, Shelby, Liz, and I played basketball. We then all rode bikes for a little bit. We came in and Lizi and played the piano while Trey, Shelby, and Judi did crafts. We then watched Brother Bear and ate some dinner. Shelby and Trey then played foosball - they are so evenly matched right now - and Lizi and Judi played legos. Trey and I then played Stratego while the girls played with legos. We then watched 2 episodes of "Alone" with a bowl of ice cream, and went to bed.
Wednesday, 27th
I had to go to work in the morning but as I was getting ready to eat breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised by all the kids who came to eat with me! I love all the time I can get with them so having them wake up early to spend more time with me was extra special. While I was at work, Trey built a 10 foot, 2 inch marble tower, and Liz took Shelby and Lizi to get a pedicure. When the girls got back, Liz played foosball with Shelby and Trey, while Lizi and Judi played with legos and with a marble tower. Lizi was keeping stats on who won and a marble named "Blaze" won her competition. When I got home, we went out to the back yard to play catch with the football. Lizi did so good! She and I did the game where I say, "Go" and she runs and I throw the ball over her shoulder and she runs to catch it. I can't believe how much she has improved without any practice! She is really athletic! Shelby and Trey did really good too! I threw some fast passes to Trey and he caught them really good. And Shelby was catching the ball well too! Trey also threw some passes. We then played knock out (basketball) and I lost the first two games! Those guys are getting better! While Liz, Shelby, Trey, and I played basketball, Lizi and Judi played in the sand box. We then came in and I played the Ukulele in the living room with everyone around me. When I played "Let's Go Fly A Kite," all the kids were singing with me - even Trey! That is a moment I'll never forget! It was so much fun! After dinner, Trey, Shelby, Liz, and I then played a game of Settlers. Shelby had such bad luck to start out but then ended up winning by a lot! Lizi and Judi played with the marble tower. We then watched the last 4 episodes of season 6 of the show "Alone" which is a favorite of all of us. After the show we went to bed.
Thursday, 28th
Trey, Judi, and I got up and ate breakfast. Just as we were finishing eating, Lizi came in to eat. And finally after Lizi had finished, Shelby came out to eat. We put the football game on (Bears vs Lions) and Shelby, Trey, and I watched it for a little bit while Lizi and Judi played legos. I played a game of Stratego with Trey, and then with Shelby. Then we watched a little more football. I then went outside and threw the football with Lizi. I love playing with her! She is so athletic, even though she doesn't realize it. Trey and Shelby came out too and I threw it to them as they would go out for a pass. It was really cold and had been raining all night and morning so the grass was very wet, which made our hands even colder when we'd throw and catch the wet ball. We came back inside and watched more football. The next game on was the Bills and Cowboys. We also ate a really good Thanksgiving dinner that Liz and Jenna made - Turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, salad, and a couple of trey's - one that Lizi made to look like a turkey out of vegetables. After dinner we sat on the couch to watch some more football and Shelby and I briefly fell asleep. We drove out to my work to bring 10 of our new golf carts down so the owners could use them in the morning. We got home, watched a little more football and then Trey, Shelby, Liz, and I played Settlers while Judi and Lizi played with the marble tower. We then went Black Friday Shopping at Walmart where we got a laptop for Jenna and a ladder for Liz. When we got home, we had a light dinner and then Shelby, Trey, and I watched the end of the last game of the night (Saints vs Falcons) while Lizi did the World of Color, projected onto the back of the couch. I love how creative she is with her legos. Lizi then started building the marble tower while Shelby, Trey, Liz, and I played Sequence. It was fun playing that game since we hadn't played it for a while. We then got ready for bed. I had fun chatting with Lizi and Shelby about their favorite pets (Daisy and Smokey are their favorites) and favorite stuffed animals (Lizi's - Christmas Marie, Shelby - Bear with a plaid warm hat on). Trey goes to sleep fast so when I went in to check on him, he was just about asleep.
Friday, 29th
We slept in today but once we woke up, we all ate breakfast together. I then helped Lizi build a marble tower so she could race marbles. She color coded it, having the different colors in layers. Shelby and Trey played foosball. Jenna then woke up and we all got ready to go sledding. We drove up to the Cedar City High School off the freeway and had so much fun! Cedar got almost a foot of snow from this storm. There were a lot of people there but we found our normal spot by the scoreboard. Trey tried "Surfing" down the hill and he made it all the way down! He was the only one. Jenna and I tried but we couldn't do it. We stayed there for about an hour and a half and it started snowing really hard on us and it was cold, so we decided to leave. Lizi said that this was the first hard snow fall that she ever remembered seeing. On the way home, it was snowing bad as well and we had to drive slow. We got home and ate lunch and watched Zootopia. Trey then set up the Settlers board to surprise Liz, who had to work a shift today at the hospital. Lizi played with her legos and then started putting them all away into her room. I have been so impressed with Lizi and how much of a helper she has been this week! Shelby and I started to play a game of foosball but one of the players broke in half again so I had to glue it. It started snowing really hard at our house and continued for a couple of hours. Shelby, Trey, and I played Sequence while Lizi and Judi played with the marble game. Then Judi, Shelby, Trey, and I played Sorry! I love playing board games with the kids! Liz got home from work and Shelby was playing with her legos, Trey and Judi were playing with hot wheels cars, racing them into a box that was labeled with points under different cut out sections, and Lizi was doing the marble game. Liz, Trey, Shelby, and I played settlers while Judi and Lizi played the marble game. We took a break during our game to go play out in the snow. Lizi and Shelby built a really cool snowman and Trey built a snow fort. We had so much fun! We also threw the football around a little. It snowed on us pretty good the whole time! We came back in and finished our game. Then Trey and Judi played with their cars again, Lizi started packing and cleaning her room, and Shelby and I played the Ukulele. It is so cool to hear her sing! We then got ready for bed. What a great day!
Saturday, 30th
Lizi was the first one up today, but all the kids got up early so we could spend as much time as we could together before we had to go to the airport. We all ate breakfast together and then went outside to play in the snow. It quickly turned into a snowball fight with Trey using his shovel to fling and dump snow on Liz. Lizi was making snow balls for me to throw and quickly I became involved and got equally pummeled with Trey's snow shovel snow as Liz had before me. Then all the kids ganged up on me and quickly I surrendered. We went inside and Trey, Judi, and I did car races while Lizi packed and organized her room. Shelby was looking for her missing glove. We then all played Sceneit - boys against girls and the girls won. I then did car races with Shelby and Trey while Lizi and Judi were playing in Lizi's room. I then went through a bin in the garage, looking for my Boy Scout sash to compare to Trey's, since he brought his to Utah. It was cool to see what badges we both had. I also found a few of Grandma Judi's things that I wanted to show the kids like her green crayon Halloween costume and the cape she got while in Morocco. I love going through my mom and grand parents things with the kids so they will know who my mom and grand parents were. They don't show a lot of interest in in yet, but hopefully they will as they get older. While we were putting things away in the garage, we found out that traffic was really bad in the gorge so we started packing up and getting ready to go. Shelby spent a long time petting Daisy and Lizi got a lot of pictures of all the animals, including her fish! It's fun to see how much they love their pets here. Lizi said a lot that she wanted to stay here and I wish she could! We played 5 games of UNO on the way down. I sat in the back with Shelby and we also listened to a few of our favorite songs. Trey sat in the front which I know he liked. We got to the airport, checked in and waited for their mom to get there. We all talked for a little bit by the security checkpoint before it was time for them to go. They haven't turned around and waved bye as much the last couple of visits. Maybe they're outgrowing it. This was such a great week!
