September 12-15, 2014 Texas

Friday, September 12

I arrived at Dallas Love field at about 1:50pm, got my rental car and got checked into my hotel. I went to pick up the kids around 3:45 and was greeted by Trey at the end of the street watching for me. When he saw me I could hear him screaming "he's here, he's here!!" (despite my windows being up) as he ran towards lizi and his mom who were sitting on the front lawn. We got all loaded up into the car and went to Wal-Mart to get some groceries for the weekend. After Wal-Mart we went to Wendy's to get something to eat. After 3 cheese burgers and a small fries, Lizi was finally full! We then went back to our hotel where I had placed some gift bags that Liz and the girls made for the kids. When the kids got to the room, they immediately saw the bags and got so excited! I brought some putters and a wedge that I had cut down for them and the kids all started putting in the room. We then watched some Disney cartoons, read scriptures, said prayers, and went to bed.

Quote of the Day - Trey: "Finally, no more blah blah blah stuff." Said while he was in his car seat after his mom got finished talking to me when I was picking them up.

Saturday, September 13

We woke up and had cereal for breakfast. Trey then got out the putters, balls, and cups and practiced putting. Shelby and Lizi soon joined him. We then played War and Go Fish with the new cards that Liz gave them in their surprise bags. After our card gmes, we played "Don't Eat Pete" with grapes this time. Trey was supposed to have a baseball game but the fields were too wet from rain earlier in the week so his game was cancelled. So we went to McDonalds and had lunch and played on the play place. After playing for a while at McDonalds, we went to their school and while Shelby and Lizi played on the play ground, Trey and I played golf and baseball on the big field. Soon the girls came to join us and we all played baseball. It was fun to watch Lizi run after Trey with the ball after Trey hit it ad was running the bases. It was also fun to see Trey hitting his golf ball out and back across the big field while I played baseball with the girls. After the park, we came back to the hotel and went swimming. The pool was cold so we spent most of our time in the hot tub which was about the same temperature as the Arscotts pool is. But every now and then Trey and Shelby would jump over into the pool and swim for a bit. After swimming, we got Pizza and bought it back to the room. After we finished eating, the kids had baths and then it was late so we watched some Disney Cartoons and did our bed time routine.

Quote of the Day - Lizi, walking over to me with the instructions to "go fish" in hand: "Read the instructions, Daddy, because Shelby keeps winning the game!"

Sunday, September 14

As usual, Trey was the first one up and as soon as everyone else got up, we had cereal for breakfast. After eating we went to their school again to play baseball, golf, and Frisbee. It was fun to have Trey pitch to m as well and then watch and listen to his reaction when I hit the ball. After spending a couple of hours at the park, we came back to the hotel and had Peanut butter and honey sandwiches and pizza leftovers for lunch. We then watched some football and putted. It is really neat to see how much of a sincere interest the kids have in sports since they don't get much exposure to sports when I'm not with them. But they were all interested in watching the football game. After watching a little football, we got ready for Church. After church, we came back to the hotel and went swimming again for a little bit - the water was still a bit cold. After swimming we went to get dinner at Wendy's where Shelby and Trey got a frosty for dessert and Lizi, since ice cream doesn't agree with her very well, got some French fries. After dinner we came back to the hotel room and played more "go fish" and then packed. We watched a few Disney cartoons and then went to bed.

Monday, September 15

Before we went to bed the night before, I told all the kids that I needed their help with getting out of bed right when I asked them to the next morning since we had to get ready for school. Lizi and even Shelby on occasion have a hard time waking up right when I ask them too but this morning they were all really good and got right out of bed. We ate some cereal and still had a little time left over so we played some cards. I put a little surprise note and ring pop in their back packs and also made Lizi a lunch. Then it was time to go to school so I dropped them off and continued on to the airport.
